LPR JAZZ
In 2026, 100 years have passed since jazz symbolically landed in Finland with the ship Andania. The arrival of jazz music had a significant impact on the development of Finnish popular music and culture. (Jazz Finland).

The Lappeenranta Jazz club, which closed down last year, has now been succeeded by a new LPR JAZZ for the autumn and spring seasons 2026-2027, founded and produced by the Lappeenranta-based pianist-composer Aurora Hentunen. The club is co-located and the venue is Kahvila Satamatie 6 in Linnoittus.

The autumn season's program consists of both more traditional jazz music and the latest Finnish jazz artists. The club's first performer in September is the Tuomo Uusitalo Trio. Pori Jazz 2023 Artist of the Year Tuomo Uusitalo is an internationally awarded jazz pianist who has been active in New York since 2012. In October, award-winning saxophonist Heli Hartikainen will perform material from his new album Interbody (2026) with live electronics. In November, the band Anno 22 from Jyväskylä will play material from their soon-to-be-released debut album. The autumn season culminates with a gig by Lappeenranta-based trumpeter Mikko Pettinen's band Why Not.
